Bumps and Bruises

ATTENTION ALL MOTHERS OF BOYS:

Perhaps you could send me a warm note to say my son will not damage his brain by bonking his head multiple times a day every day. Honestly, he always has a bump or bruise and nothing stops him. He continues to run full speed and crash into walls, doors, furniture, etc. Sometimes I think...if we were cavemen or Indians and our bones were dug up centuries later, people would wonder what happened to this man because his skull would not look normal.

I'm finally getting L to the pediatrician for his one year appointment now that we've safely switched insurance and plan to talk to what I hope to be a wonderful new doctor about this little guy and his "NO Fear" take on life. He is one drastic change from my very cautions Sophie who didn't even attempt to jump until she was 3 years old. Landon's already bouncing constantly on Sophie's bed just waiting for the day he gets his feet off the ground at the same time.

Can't we put him in a bubble?

Bubbles wouldn't work. He would just tear his way out! Yes, boys and girls are different! Enjoy the differences!

Oh boy! I think Korver was only 15-16 months old when he was jumping on our bed and fell off, he hit his head on the nightstand and cut it open... Boys will be Boys! ;)

Haha don't worry some girls (mine) do it too. She wore a bicycle helmet around the house for two months because I couldn't handle the huge bruise on top of bruise effect! She figured it:-)

welcome to boys! Climbing, jumping, wrestling...they are so scary! We've only had one broken wrist (knock on wood!)...they always survive it. Good luck :)

This is why they are made of rubber. It's totally normal and you are wise to let him explore and play. It will help him be a confident, independant, strong boy. It probably hurts you more than him. ( = Well, at least I think that's true of me and my boys. They are so tough.
