EGO, TO-DO LISTS, AUTHENTICITY

My friend Ganel just wrote a blog-post on what it means to be authentic. You can read the full post here.

I used to feel like I was drowning in to do lists and have tos. I no longer keep to do lists and I feel like life is incredibly different now. In my head, I know what needs to be done, but I don't feel the pressure that comes with a LONG list of what must be done.

Wayne Dyer says this about ego: "Ego is the part of us that believes: I am what I have, I am what I do. I am what others think of me. All this is just an illusion. The problem? If you are what you do, then who are you when you don’t do it any longer? If you are what you have—then when you no longer have it, you no longer have any value!

The truth is that we are all spiritual beings. And when you see yourself as a piece of God, then you see yourself as connected to everything and everyone."

I used to identify myself by my accomplishments. That was an easy place to judge myself - by what I didn't accomplish. Now with a better perspective (thanks to Ganel, Wayne Dyer, and my other 5000moms mentors), I live in the moment and find joy in what I co-create with God. It's much easier to roll with the flow of the day and challenges that come up this way. I try not to do things because it needs to "get done" anymore, but to fine meaning and fulfillment in what I'm experiencing.

What do you think about ego? How do you strive to live more authentically? The thing I love most about blogging and reading others blogs is learning from your experiences!
