OUR LIFE

Lately, all Adam's life consists of is work work work. When he's not at work, he's still working...grading, doing freelance, working on flooded basements.

For the record, we have now flooded TWO weekends in a row. At least 10 homes in our neighborhood flooded yesterday. Yesterday, we were just enjoying the storm, watching out the window with Sophie and telling her how much mom and dad love storms like this. When the wind knocked our trashcans over and starting whipping our trash around, Adam decided to run out and save our trash. A few minutes later he dashed in the house to tell me to go check the basement. At first, it was fine, but a few seconds later when I checked it, the water was flowing in from the foundation, so I pulled the carpet back as fast as I could while Adam took buckets full of water out of the window wells. It was a total zoo. But really, all I could do was laugh. It's kind of ridiculous.

It all adds up for a crazy and tired time in our life, floods are a bigtime annoyance, but really, we are counting our blessings. There are so many worse things in life than a wet basement.

Obviously, we are searching for a solution for our basement. It's weird, we haven't flooded ever in the three years we've lived here, but in the last 8 months, we've flooded three times. I guess when you get hit with trials, you get hit hard. It's times like this when I'm so grateful that my husband is the most patient and calm person.
