I had been a piano teacher for 25 years before discovering Let’s Play Music. I love music and I love working with children and helping them develop their musical talent. I have always wanted to be an effective teacher and be able to pass the love for music that I have on to others. I am so excited to now be able to teach 4 times as many students in one week with our Let’s Play Music’s group lessons, and be able to teach so much more effectively!
My neighbor’s daughter was in her second year of Lets Play Music when her teacher was getting married and moving away. Since I was already a piano teacher, she thought I would be the perfect Lets Play Music teacher to take the place of her teacher. (Not to mention the convenience of just sending her daughter next door for lessons.) So I started checking it out and observing classes. I was so impressed, I could hardly wait to get started myself!
My first year, I had about a million sample classes so that I could show everyone I knew about this most amazing program. There were so many moms excited about it, that we couldn’t wait til fall to start, so I had summer mini classes.
I started with about 35 students my first year and they are now starting their 3rd year. The moms are very excited about the program and the progress their students have made. They are well on their way to being well rounded, talented musicians.
After the first year of Lets Play Music, one of my little 4 year old students, who was listening in church to a violin solo, commented to her mother, after the piece changed into a minor key, “Mom, that’s sounds minor!” How many 4 year olds know that?!
Another one of my 4 year old students told her mom, as they were decorating their Christmas tree, she was putting the ornaments on so they look like a major scale. The music is just a part of them. They are truly internalizing the music!
I’ve heard moms comment numerous times how their children just start making up their own little songs. Lets Play Music gives these kids the tools they need to be so creative!
As a piano teacher, I teach students how to play an instrument. Through Lets Play Music, I do so much more by guiding their creativity and helping them become artists. I can’t wait to see how they will contribute to the world of music. Lets Play Music has helped me fulfill part of my life work to enrich others through music!
