We have a book club in my neighborhood that I've gone to a couple times and lots of my friends in it use PaperBackSwap.com. Usually, I don't have any clutter or junk whatsoever in my house, but the one thing I can't just give away or donate is the books that we've spent so much money on over the years in school. With that said, there are plenty we're never going to reference again that I don't want in the house. So, I finally joined PaperBackSwap and I can't believe HOW QUICKLY my books are getting requested. So here's the scoop (in case you aren't a member). You have your wish list of books you want and you have your bookshelf of books you have to get rid of. When someone requests your book, you mail it to them (and cover the postage) and get a credit and then someone else who has your book sends it to you and they cover the postage. Make sense? The greatest thing about it is I'm getting rid of the weird random books that I never thought anyone else would want.
So, if you have books you want out of your house that you paid good money for and can't just donate, sign up! It's FANTASTIC!
