YOU MIGHT THINK I'M CRAZY, BUT I'M EXCITED!!!!

I met the midwife today that will deliver the rest of my babies. I've been a little worried about who to use since we moved here. I loved my doctor in Springville, but that's a little far to drive and he doesn't accept our great (*sarcasm and sigh) self-employed insurance. So, I've been asking around since we moved here and there's a midwife practice in American Fork that sounded promising until I found out they didn't take our insurance either (boo!). Also since we've lived here, I've made a ton of friends who either have always done all natural births or have done it both ways epidural and natural and would never go back to the epidural. My neighbor across the street had her third baby AT HOME! with a midwife. That's the one I met today and she's awesome. I've given birth twice now, both times induced and with the epidural. I feel like as a woman, I really don't know what it's like to have a baby and I want to. I think it would be cool to actually go into labor and go natural. So, with our insurance situation ($5,000 maternity deductible), I say, why not at home :) Since I've gotten into running, I'm all about going for mind over matter so I'm psyching myself out for a lovely pregnancy and delivery. If you have horror stories, I don't want to hear them. Just cheer me on!

PS No, I'm not expecting yet, but hopefully soonish.

Wow!! I'm impressed. I have done babies all ways (natural, c-section and (now I'm telling my age!) para-cervical). My recovery was quite fast with the natural births, but I'm not sure I would have chosen that way! But, you go girl!

Good for you to try to go drug free. I am not into pain and the only way for me to make it a positive experience that I want to go through again is with drugs. I give props to any woman that can go drug free.

I have always thought I wanted to have babies naturally as well. The recovery just seems to be so much faster. I'll be interested to hear how it goes if you have a baby at home. Good luck getting preggers!

Go natural!!! I ABSOLUTELY loved it. It's just such a sacred experience to be that in touch with your body...there's no way to explain it. I agree with what the commenter Wendy said - the epidural seems way scarier to me than doing it all natural. Anyway, anyone can do it - it's all about mind over matter in most cases. If you have any questions, seriously give me a call or email - it's something I feel real passionate about and I love to talk about it.
