5K

This past Saturday night, I ran my first 5K.  We had no idea what the route was like, which was kind of a good thing because we never knew how far we had to go.  The bad thing about it though, was there was a ton of hills.  This was in no way a flat run.  We have been running a route at home with one hill, but this race route had two downhills, one at the very beginning and one at the very end, but besides those, we were on an incline the rest of the time.  The only goal we set was to be able to run the entire thing and we joked that we wanted to beat Jodi's age this time (33) and my age next time (25), so we were happy we finished in 30 minutes, 18 seconds.  We were a little bummed we didn't make it in under 30 minutes, but were so glad we were able to run the whole thing.  My knee didn't start hurting until the last stretch when we sprinted to the finish line.  Our next 5K is a Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving.  We're aiming to do it in under 25 minutes.  Then, we're training for a 10K!!!

The first picture is before the race.  This one is after.  Jodi has some other after shots on her camera.  Do we look like we even ran a race (yawn....)  The ones on Jodi's camera are right after the race, so maybe our faces are red in those pics.  Not too bad :)

AWesome! It makes me happy when other people find joy in the run. Sounds like the race was challenging, but you guys were sure up to it! Nice Work!

Way to go Nisha! There is such a good feeling when you accomplish something like that! Would you consider doing the 12 hour race down in Moab in the spring of 2010? I want to put a team of 4 girls together.
