Call Nisha! I've made it a regular habit lately to put things in the disposal that really should just go in the trash - like carrot peelings and yes Kelly, even a big strainer full of pasta. The result - Nisha under the sink taking apart the plumbing. Yes, twice in the last couple weeks. You would think I would learn. This time (the pasta today), I did try a natural solution to unclog it first, but with no success. I am going to try it on my shower drain. I think the hair, shaving cream and sea salt scrubs regularly gunk it up a bit. I'll let you know if the concoction works (2/3 cup dry baking soda down the drain, add 3/4 cup vinegar - clog the drain after you put the vinegar in. Volcano erupts inside and hopefully, whallah). I'm guessing it will work well on slow drains, but obviously not the completely clogged ones. It just moves that stuff back a bit. I will brag now (despite my stupidity) that I am a pretty amazing plumber. I can take it apart and put it back together with no leaks :) Only bad thing is my husband now thinks I can fix anything. Shoot. Fixing things in my opinion should be his job.

You know what works well in the shower for the drain? The plunger. We also used it in the kitchen sink once. Worked like a charm. Just be sure to use a new one that hasn't been in the toilet. Ick!
BTW, I love love love Sophie's pigtails and those butterfly shoes. So CUTE!
I've heard of using baking soda and vinegar before as an organic way to unstop drains but I've never tried it. Most of the time though, clogs just need strong chemicals.
I'm not sure why your grinder would be clogging so much. Are you running the water at least 15 seconds after grinding? Also, you should grind a couple of handfuls of ice cubes in your disposal every so often. This will sharpen the blades and clean out the disposal.

A couple years ago my roommates and I found out the hard way that pasta and garbage disposals don't mix. We poured a pot of uneaten pasta down the drain and it got so clogged that we couldn't use our kitchen sink, disposal, or dishwasher for two days before our management finally got around to replacing it. Maybe I should have just had you come over and unclog it instead.
Gotta say: I'm pretty impressed! If I need help with handyman work, I'll give you a call! Haha, speaking of which, you don't wanna come help us paint on friday, do you? ;) Cute pictures, BTW. I like the one you got of the 3 kids in the pool. And her pigtails are sooooo cute!
How are you feeling?
I got to fish Holland's tooth out of the pipes today after she washed it down the sink.
So, I feel your pain!
I guess I need your email too. Your allergies sound like what Haven had last month....she was so miserable! I hope the medicines keep working.
My email is - garasmusson@yahoo.com
I'll send you some healthy vibes...
