Well, it's been a week since my last post and I've been trying to think of something to blog about. I thought about going on and on about the soon to be dead dogs in my neighborhood. I think all the dog-free neighbors are ready to shoot the never quiet pet population of Smith Ranch. THEY'VE BEEN BARKING ALL EVENING. But, I won't say more about dogs. I will say, I am grateful to be partially deaf in one ear. I'm not sure how I would ever sleep without this blessed ear. Ode to my handicap :)
On a more fun note....we had our first BBQ of the season today! My cousin Kathy lives with her husband Trent and two boys in City Center. City Center and the Ranches (where we live) make up the city of Eagle Mountain but they are about ten minutes apart. So, we've lived here about 7 months and we've never to been to each other's houses. So we had them over for lunch and then we played at the park. Sophie is finally learning how to sit down on her bottom and go feet first down the slide without help. She prefers to go on her belly. I'm just grateful it's feet first. My cousin's son doesn't mind the face plant at the end of the slide. I think Sophie would cry. We were only outside for maybe an hour and a half and I am sunburned. I'm looking forward to BBQing regularly and would enjoy having YOU come over!! Let us know when you want to come. The meat is already marinating!!!
This week was a little hectic for our family because I went to Idaho to recruit volunteers for the Rose Foundation. That meant Adam had to take time off work to watch Sophie, so we've been catching up since I've been back. The best thing about my trip was the man I sat next to at the Idaho State Teacher Fair. He was entertaining all day and even set me up with his daughter who lives in Saratoga Springs (the next city over). If I knew all I needed to do to make friends in Utah was travel to Idaho, I would've done it a lot sooner. Sophie and I have a play date scheduled with his daughter Kristina and granddaughter Andy on Monday! I'm looking forward to seeing if we hit it off. If not, at least I might get a tan. It's supposed to be 73! I'll be sporting shorts and some sunless tanner. Hooray for Spring!!!!
