To NOT make a list of the things I'd love to get my kids for Christmas. I CAN KEEP IT SIMPLE. I CAN KEEP IT SIMPLE. I CAN KEEP IT SIMPLE. OKAY, NOW BREATH :)
Darn the stores and their Christmas music and sweet toy displays, especially YOU COSTCO. Ugh! Note to self - Stay away from the stores!
Oh, PS, we walk in WalMart this morning and Sophie says, "LOOK! There is a decorated Jack...uh...uh...Christmas Tree!"
Uh yeah, our brains are still thinking Halloween and Jack-o-lanters, so why on Earth is there a huge Christmas tree in front of us?! Plus it's September weather. Anyone else in a funk?!

Tell me about it....I went shopping on Nov 1st and Christmas stuff was already up. No wonder the nation is in such trouble...they skip over the holiday where you give thanks for everything. It's a give me head set for most people I guess. Hang in there...when the kids are young it is the easier time to keep it simple. Or at least so I am told!
After Halloween I just think of the next two months as the "holiday season". I look at Thanksgiving and Christmas in much the same way, days for being grateful for all that we have while being with family. I am okay with the Christmas stuff being up because it envokes a special feeling for both Christmas and Thanksgiving.
Some of the best advice I got about the whole Christmas season was to cut back just 10%. For my 10%, I stopped doing neighbor gifts. {sigh of relief} Just that helped. Have you read "The Hundred Dollar Holiday"? I gave it away on my parsimonious blog last year -- totally makes you rethink things. I think I'll give it away again...
