big woops

Last night, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at the neighbors until 10 pm. Sophie LOVES these kids and also had a blast staying up late. Unfortunately, her parents who were rushed to get her in bed TOTALLY forgot about the whole Pull-Up thing. Little Lady sleeps so deep at night, she's not yet potty trained at night. She can make it through naptime and in fact, did so for a whole 3 1/2 hours yesterday.

So, there's a huge pee spot on her mattress. I soaked it up as best I could with a towel. Any other suggestions?

My mom always put the mattress out in the sun for the sun to soak up??! I would say 4 hours at least?!

Buy a mattress pad just in case it happens again. The one on Ally's bed is plastic, covers the entire mattress and has a zipper closure. It's great and was super cheap at Walmart. Any time Ally's had an accident in bed I've just had to clean the plastic cover and then wash the sheets, but it's worth it.

I second the motion to "The Horn Family" suggestion. Did the very same thing in fact.

I'd use a mixture of about one part bleach to ten parts water and spray it down well with that to kill the germs and the smell :)

I learned a lot from all your comments. Did any of them work for you?

Baking soda is great to put on when it's still wet. Or after using the clorox/water mixture. It will help suck up the moisture and take out some of that smell. Then just vacuum it off the bed. I would also do as Tashina says for next time.
