My sister gave me an Amish Friendship Bread starter 10 days ago and it was the weirdest thing I've ever done and I was worried the whole time I was doing something wrong. But today was bake and share day. I gave starters to three of my friends and baked what was left and holy yumminess! This is too good to exist. And why wouldn't it be with all the SUGAR in it - holy high glycemic goodness. It made two loaves. I need to give away one loaf STAT! Thank heavens for visiting teaching appointments on Sunday :) This stuff is plain sinfull...those Amish!I suppose I should read the story of how the bread came to be. It's online. I found it while I was looking for an image to post, but it's way too late for me to read tonight. My sweet Sophie will be waking in 7 hours. BOO!!!! I need more sleep. Darn bread baking kept me up.

You should save me a piece, with all the work drama I got way behind on the bread :( Can I just start it on my own??
we have made that bread before and its way way yummy, but only made it once, takes way to much time!
I did that a couple of weeks ago. It is so good, but I didn't keep my second start. It IS time consuming and you have to remember to add the ingredients on the certain days. YUMMY YUMMY though and definitely worth it. We did enjoy our one batch.
But I didn't need the reminder about all the sugar :(
I love this bread!! I make the "give away" starter kits and just keep it in my freezer then pull it out when I want it if anyone ever needs it! ITs so delicous!
Okay so I just got a starter today and it says not to refridgerate. Is that right?? I feel like I'm doing something wrong!
Har Har! You are too funny. The Amish aren't half as sinful as we Mormons! ;) I will eat that bread, guilt-free, as long as I don't see the fat and calories in it. :) Sounds like too much fun!
