RIGGS FAMILY RECAP 2008

This year has been a blessed one in our family and we are grateful for all that we have, especially wonderful family and friends.

Adam's graphic design business is solid with a client that keeps him busy full-time designing a finance/investment magazine.  He also continues to design books for Millenial Press.  We love having him work from home and he loves starting the day whenever he happens to roll out of bed. For fun, Adam has been playing in soccer leagues (in-door and out-door) with some other guys in our neighborhood.  His team is really good and Sophie and I love cheering him on. They just finished up an undefeated season.  Adam bought an XBOX360 and for Christmas, got a number of tools - so he's a "real man" now and has these new hobbies to keep busy with.  His first project was a workbench.  Next on the list is a toy box for Sophie and a bookshelf for his office.  We're excited to see him create useful things for our home.

Sophie has grown a ton this year (physically and intellectually).  She's turned into one smart toddler.  She communicates really well for her age and loves playing make believe.  She knows all her letters, numbers and shapes and loves people.  She'll go to anyone and carry on a conversation with them.  In fact, during one of Adam's softball games this year, she went up to a huge Tongan guy that was stretching on the ground near us and gave him a big hug.  It's so random.  It just means mommy has to watch her more carefully when we are in public.  She absolutely loves her cousins and family parties.  She requests parties all the time and luckily Nana Jules is an awesome hostess.  Recently Sophie got a makeover.  I couldn't stand her mullet any longer, so she has a short A-line and it's darling.  One of the cutest things about Sophie is her compassion.  When she sees someone that looks down, she says, "ah, sad. need mommy."  She loves her stuffed animals and baby dolls - feeds them, rocks them to sleep and is very caring.  She will be a great big sister, thankfully, because WE ARE EXPECTING A BABY!!!

I was feeling nauseated all day Christmas Eve, so I ran to get a test and took it at the family Christmas party.  It was fun to find out on Christmas Eve.  It turns out I really had the flu, so I'm not feeling nauseated anymore and that means I'm probably only 4-6 weeks.  We'll find out for sure at the end of January.

I'm living a full life as usual.  I'm serving in our Church Primary as a counselor to the Primary President.  We have about 250 kids, but they are really great and we have awesome teachers, so our callings are enjoyable.  I still work for the Rose Foundation and work on my World of Wellness projects as much as possible.  I'm starting two new internet projects this year, Sharp20s.com and UtahMomsForMoms.com.  I'm learning a lot about creating websites and marketing online.  Lately, in my spare times, my friends and I have stayed busy crafting...making aprons and other fun things for our girls .  I am excited to put my new sewing machine to use this year.

In other family news, we finished our basement this Spring which is so nice!  We don't have a bathroom on our main floor, just two full baths on the top floor, so now that we have one in the basement, I can go down there to blow dry my hair in the morning without waking Adam and Sophie up.  It's also nice extra playroom space that I don't necessarily have to clean up.  Our newest family project is building up our food storage.  Our cold storage space is filled with great shelving and we've started our collection, so we'll be working on that little by little in the coming year.

We are so grateful for all of you and the blessings we share.   Visit our blog throughout the year for frequent updates on our growing family.

Wishing you the best year in 2009!!  Love, The Riggs Family
